在万物中寻觅慰藉。在无用之物里你也能找到慰藉：它们可以不朽。烦忧都可以得到补偿。谚语曰：傻瓜有福，丑女有夫。事物的价值越小，其生命就越长。有裂纹的杯子永远都不碎，耐用得让人厌烦。天妒英才，它让无用者长寿，而让天才早逝，以求得平衡。担当重任者面带悲伤；无足轻重之人，总是活得安然。要么看上去如此，要么确实如此。那些不幸的人认为，自己既被死亡之神遗忘，也未被幸运之神想起。
