It is reported that thirty volunteers to be sent to the Mars who are at least 18 years old will be chosen from all the globe by the year of 2015. The volunteers must make a full preparation that there is almost no chance to return to the earth once they are immigrated to the Mars. What’s more, it is greatly important for them to try to keep a good relationship with other members. Experts strongly warned that the living conditions on the Mars are very hard, for not only the extremely cold climate would they meet with, but also loneliness and fear. From the above, I can draw the conclusion safely that even the smallest and the most ordinary job, such as cleaning the street is also the necessary part to keep the society going smoothly. A retired teacher received many letters from his former students, one of which was read as not only a thank-you note for his inspirational teaching in his mathematical class, but a warm comfort for his poor physical condition.

Reading the passage, I’m touched and link my memory to the most supportive mentor of my own -- Mr. Xu, an experienced Chinese teacher, was in charge of my class in Senior Three. As the senior year is characterized by running a tight schedule on everyday basis, we students were loaded with heavy coursework, frequent quiz and exams, and pressured by our parents’ high expectations. Is Watching TV a Good Thing

Television has changed people's life much since it was invented. Now it has become an important part of modem life.

People enjoy themselves after hard work by Watching TV. They can see some plays, some stories,some sports matches without going out of home, and without spending much money in buying tickets. TV programmes make people's life more interesting.

Use of Free Time

With the working hours becoming shorter and shorter and holidays becoming longer and longer, how to spend the leisure time has become a hot topic.

The use of free time often discloses much about one's tastes, values, interests and personality. First, I thought I should go over all those things my teachers taught in the previous term so that I could have a better understanding of them. Then I thought I should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running and rowing, to keep me physically strong. Li Ming and I took part in a wilderness survival program yesterday,which has become an unforgettable experience.

Yesterday morning we wore strong and comfortable shoes, carried backpacks with the necessities in them and went to the mountain. We climbed a hill. On the top we saw a direction mark, which told us where to go. Down the hill, we came to a river. There were no boats but we had to cross it. Luckily, both of us had learned how to swim. But we shouldn't make our things in the backpacks wet. Seeing a piece of board, I got an idea. We put our backpacks on the board and swam in the water pushing the board. When getting to the other bank, with the compass we found north in which direction we walked half an hour. Finally, we arrived at the campsite. We set up a tent and made a bonfire.

The two of us spent the night in the forest.

We learned to use knowledge gained in classroom training to solve problems. It was quite an experience for both of us, which I'll never forget for the rest of my life.

我的第三个寒假已经结束了，后天就将开学，新的学期生活也即将拉开帷幕，回忆总结一下我在三年级的这个寒假的收获和不足吧！

我从20xx年1月28日考完期末试开始就算放寒假了，只是在2月4日有半天的到校日，也几乎没有影响到我的寒假生活，反而给我增添了很多的回忆和值得纪念的事情。因为我在这一天的全校结业式中面对全校师生进行了3分钟的发言，这对我来说是很有纪念意义的，因为这是我第二次面对全校师生发言。（还有一次是竞选大队委员）。

从1月29日我的真正意义上的寒假就已经开始了，我们一起研究并简单的规划了一下我的寒假生活，其中玩游戏时我们最先提起的，一定要保证玩的时间，其次才是背诵英语、读书等等事情，我在我们的这个理念下进行了自己的寒假规划。我在自己的规划下主要完成了如下事情：

一、假期所完成的事情综述：

1、玩游戏：玩的最嗨的一天，电子游戏5个小时，看电影85分钟，探险体验60分钟，但这一天我还是完成了每天必须的吹萨克斯30分钟、读书一本、背诵英语小短文2篇，并听完口语；玩的最少的一天，电子游戏2小时，拼装大圣玩具2小时；

2、拼装大圣玩具：

经过这个寒假我用了两个暑假和两个寒假也就是两年的时间把一套完整的大圣玩具共1500多个零件的玩具全部图案拼装完成，最后一次于20xx年2月15日吧玩具的最难的一个拼装根据图示完全拼装完成，并在此基础上把一些比较复杂的拼装进行了自我创造性的进行了创新，从中学会了动手、动脑、观察、创造等能力，为今年学习模仿奠定了一定的空间形象基础。

3、听、背、说英语：

在英语金老师的帮助下对《新视通》英语结合每一篇的录音进行了全部的听背说的练习，全书一共100篇英语短文，每一篇都配有标准的美音配音，我在录音的引领下把100篇全部背诵好，并和录音进行了比对，我们也对此进行了检测与提问。通过这些背诵我的听力、英语情景对话的应变能力、积累、听力等都有很大的提升，尤其是听力、说的语气和语调都有很大的改观，为今年参加希望之星英语大赛奠定了一定的基础。

4、读书：

每天必须保证吹萨克斯30分钟，其中2月4号没有吹，因为是上午到校，下午开车回济南过年；还有连续的三天是因为萨克斯出现故障没有吹，回到家就正常了。坚持的很好、很自觉的自主练习并给大家展示。

6、写读后感和作文：

这些是老师留的寒假作业之一，老师留了四篇读后感，我写了8篇读后感；老师留了2篇作文，我写了六篇作文；数学老师留了一篇参赛小论文，我也超额完成写了两篇。

7、看电影、爬山、探险体验、打雪仗：

在整个寒假我是室内、室外有机结合，电子游戏、玩具有机结合；看电影、爬山、打雪仗等运动有机结合在一起，让我的寒假变得更加的丰富多彩。

一共看了两场电影，（喜羊羊、做次有钱人），爬山3个小时，探险大型游戏1个小时、打雪仗、堆雪人3个小时，乘坐汽车34个小时，行程2100公里。

8、玩魔方：

我在寒假的第一天在奥数老师那里学会了三级魔方的前两步，然后自己根据电脑视频学会了后面的几步，把三级魔方完全复原，然后我们进行复原的速度练习，三天内把三级魔方的复原时间缩短在2分钟以内，最快的一次复原时间是1分6秒；然后二级魔方进行研究，一个小时就把二级魔方复原，主要是有三级魔方的基础；二三级魔方复原后我并没有停止学习，而是自己和视频挑战四级魔方，四级魔方自己研究了一会发现没有什么好的思路，就看了一下说明，结果就把四级魔方的前两步全部学会，然后一天没有研究，在晚上看了10分钟的接下来的棱块拼装后整个四级魔方的第一次复原就成功了，接下来在10分钟之内就可以把一个四级魔方给完全复原，我们也想加快速度，但我说：“在拼装棱块的时候需要翻来覆去的找相同颜色的棱块，会耽误时间，所以要想快还是由一定难度的。”我们也没有针对四级魔方的复原做太多的要求，只要能保证顺利复原就好了，现在我基本上可以在6分钟以内完成四级魔方的复原，有时可能还会更快一些；四级魔方顺利的复原后，我并没有停下来研究，我们购置了五级魔方，我用了两个小时的时间，没有看任何的说明和视频就自己完成了复原，现在复原一次五级魔方还需要一定的时间，但我已经能比较顺利的进行复原了，速度是需要反复练习才能有大幅度提高的，这是接下来慢慢进行，我们也在准备购置六级魔方，让我进一步的挑战下去。

我在寒假不仅自己玩魔方，还带动身边的人也玩魔方，我的第一个学生是我的大姨，在寒假期间我通过自己的示范与讲解成功的教会了大姨复原三、四级魔方；还教会了爸爸复原三级魔方的两层和第三面的十字型，这只要是爸爸的不认真学习。

在玩魔方的过程中发现我是很善于自学、研究、观察的，而且能把自己的操作用语言很清楚的表达出来，让旁边的人能听懂。

9、练字、拼写英语字母、单词、句子：

这些都是老师留的必须完成的作业，我每天在规定的时间内进行书写，而且书写的比较认真得到小姨的表扬，尤其是英语字母的拼写比较的好。写字有时还出现浮躁的现象，描的不够认真，但提醒后就好了。

三、寒假遗憾的地方

整个寒假我过的都比较的充实，每天自己管理自己，按时间玩游戏、学习等等，但整体我们感觉还是室外的活动有些少，主要原因是我们在济南过年，那里的天气还是有些寒冷的，我在南方出生对济南的天气还是有些不太适应，可能也有我们担心孩子生病的原因吧，带我外出的次数和时间都不够，但我们回到宁波就弥补了一些室外活动。

新的学期就要开始了，新的挑战也将继续而来，我新学期的主要任务就是参加20xx年CCTV希望英语风采大赛，争取获得好于去年的成绩。

这个寒假学期结束了，我又跟老师同学们见面了。今年我的寒假多姿多彩，酸甜苦辣样样都有，现在我就做个总结。

在生活上，我经过千辛万苦的努力，终于克服了一些缺点，比如，吃饭时看电视，打电脑打的太长，不爱到外面玩，不爱做家务，睡懒觉等等的坏习惯。这些习惯不是说改就能改，样样都用了九牛二虎之力。像做家务起来做早饭，都要早起来，不然一天就只吃两顿，虽然这样我还是摆脱不了被窝的吸引，但还是凭着毅力克服了。还有一个问题，要常出去找同学玩，这可麻烦了，我去同学家的路又不熟，再加上城市这么大，拐了十几个弯，还是找不到，幸好有电话卡，要不准迷路，现在去的次数多了，再也不会迷路了。

在学习上我把《十万个为什么》、《百科全书》重看了一遍，巩固记忆，还看了《上下五千年》，温习了以前的功课，得到了很多的知识。

实习职位例如有：收银，售票员，机动游戏操作员，公园服务生，救生员，餐厅侍应和清洁，房间服务助理，酒店前台，厨房事务助理，食物供应，管家，销售助理等。分配职位时按学生的英文水平区分，并据实际工作表现可做调整。

实习学生享受的是同美国同事同工同酬的待遇，并享有其他福利（政府要求的基本医疗和意外保险等）按照联邦政府的最低工资规定：2009年7月24日之前，大约是每小时6.55美金，之后则提高至7.25美金。另外，对于接收小费类工作，每小时至少有2~3美金小费。学生每天的工作时间是7~8小时，每周工作5~6天，这样计算每周总计35~40小时，每周收入至少为250~300美金。住宿费用根据所处区域的不同大约20~100每周，饮食按个人的喜好，大约每周花费25～100美金。所以，按照过往其他国家参与学生的经验，每周至少有50美金的盈余可用于旅行等其它个人开支。

一般情况下，美国雇主每2周支付薪酬，学生收到第一份薪酬可能要在到达美国3~4周以后，取决于学生开始工作和获取Social Security Card(社会安全卡)的时间。所以，我们建议学生至少携带额外1000美金以支付一开始的住房等日常费用。实践时间根据中国高校的一般暑假时间，学生实习时间一般是10周，从6月中下旬开始至9月中旬。

什么是 Summer Work & Travel?
